He spent 37 years in the U.S. Navy and earned four stars, served as the 16th Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, and forayed into academia as the 12th Dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. His most recent book is Sailing True North: Ten Admirals and the Voyage of Character.
