Dear Reader,

No longer president, Trump’s social media reach is greatly diminished since his departure from Twitter and the Oval Office. Even with a revived Twitter/X account, Trump remains largely focused on Truth Social, his struggling social media site, where he has 6.38 million followers and user posts are called “truths.” That means his posts are seen predominately by those who are already in his orbit, along with media folks who monitor them. 

I was not one of them. So, it came as a surprise to me on a Friday night in early September when a friend told me that Trump had mentioned me in one of his so-called “truths.” It was a rant about a 14th Amendment lawsuit in Colorado and it inexplicably named me along with several friends and colleagues who have little if anything to do with that lawsuit. Trump wrote:

“The group suing me in Colorado to ridiculously try and Unconstitutionally keep me off the ballot (I am leading against DeSanctimonious by almost 50 points, and beating Crooked Joe, BIG!), is TRUMP DERANGED ‘CREW,’ composed of many slime balls & groups like Norm Eisen through Brookings or Just Security, Andrew Weissmann, Joyce Vance, et al. They are, perhaps illegally, working with Weissmann acolyte Lisa Monaco at ‘Injustice.’ I have been beating them for years, including Impeachments. MAGA!!!”
