Afterimage is a new video interview project hosted by Now & Then editorial producer David Kurlander. The show focuses on one piece of archival media–a narrative film, a memo, a news clip, a painting, a song–by a recently-departed figure who helped to shape the second half of the 20th century. 

The first episode focuses on the actress Louise Fletcher (1934-2022) and her overlooked performance in the 1979 film Natural Enemies. David interviews the film’s director, Jeff Kanew, about Fletcher’s talent, his road to making the movie, and the cultural resonance of the intense plot in 2022.
