On a new episode of the CAFE Insider podcast, Preet and Joyce discuss former President Donald Trump’s Manhattan criminal trial, including the judge’s decision to hold Trump in contempt and to fine him $9,000 for violating a gag order, testimony by the prosecution’s first trial witness, former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, who detailed the “catch-and-kill” scheme used to suppress salacious stories about Trump during the 2016 election, and other testimony by Trump’s former assistant Rhona Graff, and a financial executive who worked for Michael Cohen, Gary Farro.

Preet and Joyce also break down the decision by New York’s highest court to overturn disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 sex crimes conviction on the basis that some evidence was improperly allowed to be presented at trial, and the Supreme Court oral arguments on Trump’s immunity defense in the election subversion case brought by special counsel Jack Smith, where a majority of the justices signaled that they might endorse some degree of immunity from criminal prosecution for Trump.
