This election season has seen a record-breaking number of voting and election-related cases filed in courts across the country. And it’s just getting started.

On this week’s CAFE Insider, Joyce Vance is joined by special guest Marc Elias, while Preet is out. Marc is one of the nation's foremost election attorneys. He's served as election counsel on multiple presidential campaigns, including the Kamala Harris campaign, where he's focusing on potential recounts, post-election litigation, and challenging voter suppression laws across the country. Listen as Joyce and Marc unpack the lawsuits that may shape this year’s election.

Joyce Vance:

From CAFE and Vox Media Podcast Network, welcome to CAFE Insider. I’m Joyce Vance. Preet is out today, so I’m joined by my friend, Marc Elias. Marc is one of the nation’s foremost election attorneys. He’s served as counsel to presidential campaigns for John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and currently the Kamala Harris campaign, where he’s focusing on potential recounts, post-election litigation, and challenging voter suppression laws across the country. You know, Marc, the first question I have to ask you before we really get started is do you ever sleep?

Marc Elias:

You know, I wish I could say I got as much sleep as I’d like to, but I don’t. But we’re at the tail end of the pre-election, and the hardest part is it’s like jet lag, because everyone is ready to work and then have that final sprint. And then, of course, for those of us who focus on the post-election, that’s actually the starting line, and that’s really where fatigue sets in.
